Extension Service<\/h5>\n

Cashew represents a diversification crop option for the dry districts of Sri Lanka. Keeping in mind, the particular needs of the small scale farmers in the rural areas. 1. Cultivation under subsidy scheme.<\/h5>\n

(a) Bud-grafted plants

\n– Rs. 9,500\/per acre
\n(Inducing Plants, fertilizer and allowance for agricultural practices)
\n(b) Seedling plants
\nDuration
\nTotal package – 40 plants\/per acre
\n– 5 years.
\n– Rs. 3,500\/per acre
\n(Including Plants, fertilizer and allowance for agricultural practices)<\/p>\n

Eligibility-<\/strong>
\n\u00bd acre to 5 acres
\nOwnership of the land to be established
\nLand suitable for cashew cultivation<\/p>\n

2. Home Garden Project-<\/h5>\n

To fulfill the domestic needs.
\n5-10 plants \/per Farmer family.<\/p>\n

3. Awareness programs and Farmer Training<\/h5>\n

Training of farmers by extension staff on advanced technology on cashew cultivation.<\/p>\n

4. Follow-up programmes<\/h5>\n

After planting, monitoring, necessary advice is given by the extension staff.<\/p>\n

5. Purchasing of Raw-nuts<\/h5>\n

During the harvesting season, raw cashew is purchased by extension staff at the farmers gate at a fair price.<\/p>\n

6. Cottage Processing<\/h5>\n
